Step Four - DBS Update Service

You are required to register for the DBS Update Service as part of your Ofsted DBS application. You will be able to register for the Update Service at two stages of the DBS process:

• Once the DBS receive your application and assign you a DBS reference number (This will be an 11 digit number beginning with ‘E’). You will receive this reference number once Security Watchdog have received and processed your online application and Identity Checking Form.
• Once you receive your completed DBS certificate and have your certificate number. You must register within 30 days of the certificate being issued.

Register for the DBS Update Service

Registration lasts for 1 year and costs £13 per year (payable by debit or credit card only). There’s no charge if you’re a volunteer.
